  • Winter Park in May

Zephyr and I were able to get up to Winter Park to see how Spring was coming along in the mountains. We were met with some damaged trails due to mud slides and snow covering our path. The amount of water flowing in the Fraser River was astounding.

    5/24 - Spring Runoff

    Water rushing by
    Like the thoughts always swirling
    in my restless mind
    5/25 - Home Sweet Home

    Dirt, twigs, and grass swept
out of one house as a chore
    makes a river home
    5/26 - Springtime

    Where once was dry land
    Melted snow changed the landscape
    Power of nature
    5/27 - Storm Clouds

    Avalanche of clouds
    Pushing across mountains
    Racing me onward

  • Third Week of May

I love this time of year when things are coming alive and the days are getting longer.

    5/16 - Make a Wish

    Field of weeds or dreams
    Wishes ready to take flight
    About perspective
    5/17 - Waiting

    Playground just waiting
    for children to finish school
    It's almost summer
    5/18 - Summer Delights

    Like an Easter egg
Left in the dye extra long
    Purple lilac bloom
    5/19 - Just Keep Swimming

    Mama and babies
    She's protector and teacher
    Stay close little ones
    5/20 - Oh, Canada

    Cloudy sky above
Smoke filled from blazes up north
    Fires take their toll
    5/20 - Medusa

    Early season tree
    Or Medusa's lost cousin
    Keeping my distance
    5/22 - Consequences

    The consequence of
rolling in bad things on walks
    sometimes involves soap

  • Second Week of May

May continued to be a very wet month. After a few dry years, the moisture is appreciated. I even started enjoying those wet walks each day.

    5/9 - Tree of Life

    Old Life holding on
    New life trying to begin
    All on just one tree
    5/10 - Pretty in Pink

    Pink blossoms to delight
On this grey, gloomy, wet day
    A tree dressed for fun
    5/10 - Dog Days

    Watching the storm pass
    It's messing with my playing
    Wish we could go out
5/12 - Walking in the Rain

    I like the sun, but
Walks in the rain are peaceful
    When it's just us two
    5/13 - Change of Scenery

    Before, a green field
Now a pond down the street
    What will I see next?
    5/15 - Missing Game

    Imagine the sound
of bats smashing, fast curve balls
    and children cheering

  • First Week of May

May started out with more rain and warmer temps for morning walks.

    5/1 - Little Library

    A hidden treasure
    Think of all the adventures
    Waiting to be found
    5/3 - Hurry Up

    I've tried explaining
Why he is so much faster
    Two versus four legs
    5/4 - Spring Rain

    Bottle up the smell
I breathe in after the rain
    Is my wish today
    5/5 - Hidden Friend

    Must be very still
The dog just walked by me, but
    The girl saw me blink
    5/6 - Air Delivery

    Greetings from above
    Hello from Colorado
    Beautiful morning
    5/8 - Spring Blossoms

    Blossoms in the tree
Smell of spring is strong today
    Beauty all around

  • Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the women who are mothers, daughters, or friends supporting other women. It truly takes a village of support to get through each day. I am thankful for all of the people who are there for me, encouraging me, helping me, and loving me. I hope I give back as much as I receive from my group of people.

    To all the women
    Mother Nature is our guide
    Respect one another

  • Never Enough

This is my dog Zephyr. He likes to go for long walks and play endless rounds of catch. I try to make him happy with a long walk in the morning and several rounds of catch throughout the day. The problem is he plays too hard and ends up limping by the end of the day. I have tried explaining to him that we need to cut back on play time, but he is not interested in listening to logic. With the warmer weather and being able to be outside more, he things this should bring on more games of catch, not less. Now my neighbors get to listen to him give one bark on repeat as he tries to convince me to just throw it one more time. It may be a long summer.

  • Living his Best Life

I wish I could experience this kind of bliss. I can’t even imagine being so comfortable I could sleep just twisted around the chair on the floor like this. I am at the point where I have a special pillow to keep my neck in alignment so I don’t wake up unable to turn my head. I also have a special silk pillowcase to keep my hair from breaking and my skin from being extra wrinkly. I won’t even get into the trouble I have sleeping if the temperature isn’t just right. I envy my dog.
